Compare barber and master-barber programs carefully
Virginia distinguishes barber, master-barber and dual barber/master-barber training pathways. DPOR published curriculum changes effective December 1, 2025. Ask the school which approved pathway it teaches, which services it prepares you to perform and which current examinations and application steps apply. Older program summaries may no longer reflect the current curriculum.
For Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Williamsburg, compare commute time, weekly attendance, total costs and supervised practice. Availability is provider-specific; this site does not verify or guarantee an individual provider’s current openings.
